Hesham Alaghbari

Hesham Saleh has completed the memorization of the Holy Quran under the tutelage of Shk. Uthman Khan and received an Ijazaah (license) in the recitation of Hafs through 'Asim, and in the field of Quranic Sciences including Tajweed. Since his teens, Hesham studied extensively with local Ottawa teachers including Shk. Ismail Albatnuni, Shk. Abul Abbaas, Shk. Abdulbasit Eguilla, Dr. Ali Alsaadi and Shk. Ahmed Limame. These studies included Aqeedah, Usul, Fiqh, Qawaid Fiqhya, Tajweed, Hadith & Hadith Sciences, Nahw and Tafsir. Hesham's most notable learning experience was studying under Yemen's most senior scholar His Eminence Alshaikh Alqadhi Mohammed Ibn Ismail Al'amrani where studies included Sahih Muslim and other texts of Hadith and Tafsir. Hesham holds a number of Ijazaahs of transmission in Hadith & Hadith Science, Fiqh, Usul, and Tajweed. Hesham continues his studies with local teachers, online classes and through recordings of notable scholars. In addition to other subjects, he is currently pursuing a specialization in the science of Qiraat and Shaf'i Fiqh. Hesham has seen that too often there is a disconnect between the pursuit of Islamic Sciences and its impact on morals, etiquette and behavior. Hence, he has developed a passion in the field of Tazkyah (spiritual development) in order to develop a closer relationship with Allah. That missing link is what will transform everyday life as exemplified through the life of the Messenger Mohammed (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) and its application in the 21st century. Hesham's activism started at the age of 12 delivering after-prayer reminders in neighbouring mosques in Sana'a, Yemen. During high school in Canada, he regularly delivered khutbahs and held Seerah and Fiqh classes as well. He also held leading roles in his high school's MSA and other youth initiatives. Hesham's latest project is a lecture series entitled “Heart 2 Heart” (a detailed explanation of Imam Nawawi's famous Riyadh al-Saliheen collection of Ahadeeth). This particular book is especially dear to him; he strongly believes Riyadh al-Saliheen is an important manual for the pursuit of spiritual and behavioral development.
