Muslim Family Gathering Ottawa (MFGO)

Muslim Family Gathering, Ottawa (MFGO), the gathering is for Bangladeshi Muslim families who live in Ottawa. We gather together every month to create Islamic awareness among us.

This program is especially for our youth and the children, whom we look to carry on the true meaning and practice of Islam. The major purpose is to encourage them towards Islamic knowledge and practice Islam in their day-to-day life, so that they can appreciate Islam and its beauty.

This gathering is known as Halaqa: A Halaqa is a religious gathering or meeting for the primary purpose of learning about theology, typically Islam. Generally, there are one or more primary speakers that present the designated topic(s) of the Halaqa while others sit and listen. The attendees may participate in the discussions, ask questions, and voice concerns. Usually, prayers and supplications are part of such programs. Also, meals and snacks are served to the participants by pot-luck.

Our hope is that these gatherings will promote Islamic principles and values so that, we know, and practice the tenets of our own religion, and develop a positive attitude and respect towards other religions as well.
