Richmond Islamic Community Ottawa

Welcome to RICO Richmond Islamic Community Ottawa RICO is a diverse and rapidly growing Muslim community located south of Stittsville, west of Barrhaven. Our mission is building and sustaining a healthy and thriving muslim community integrated within our Canadian society, drawing wisdom and guidance from the Qur’an and Sunnah (teachings of Allah’s prophets and messengers, the last and foremost being Prophet Muhammad ﷺ), nurturing and upholding impeccable character through spiritual and educational development.

RICO has been a hub for the Muslim community in the Richmond area, since its founding in Ramadan 2023, while searching for a prayer space to host nightly congregational prayers (Taraweeh). By the grace of Allah, the council at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church granted us access to use their community hall attached to the sanctuary at 3529 McBean St, and to this day, we continue to call this location our sacred prayer space (musalla) and community gathering venue. Since 2023, the muslim community has almost doubled in number and continues to grow.
